Trump Accuses Ukraine of Zero Gratitude, Criticizes Europe's Oil Buys
President Donald Trump criticized Ukraine for showing "zero gratitude" for US aid and lambasted European nations for continuing to buy Russian oil despite sanctions.
WISE NEWS PRESS / WASHINGTON — Nov. 24, 2025
President Donald Trump took aim at the Ukrainian government in a post on his Truth Social platform, claiming Kyiv has shown "zero gratitude" for US support while criticizing European countries for continuing to purchase Russian oil.
Trump's comments come amidst ongoing global discussions surrounding peace talks for Ukraine. The former president also reiterated his claim that the full-scale invasion by Russia "would never have happened" if he were still in office.
He described the war as "violent and horrible" and maintained his allegations that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged and stolen." Trump argued that "strong and correct US and Ukraine leadership" could have prevented the conflict.
Zelenskyy Responds: 'Russia Started the War'
Hours after Trump’s message, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized on social media platform X that Russia is solely responsible for the war.
"The essence of the current diplomatic situation is this: Russia alone started this war," Zelenskyy stated. He asserted that Russian commanders act with clear instructions enabling unlimited brutality, leading to high casualties on the front lines and continued attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Despite the exchange, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the US and its allies, thanking "every American heart" and Trump for support that "saved Ukraine’s life," beginning with the early delivery of Javelin anti-tank systems. He also thanked Europe, the G7, and the G20, urging partners to continue their support.
Peace Talks Continue
As peace talks regarding Ukraine remain a top global agenda item, Western allies, the US, and Ukraine continue to hold parallel meetings. EU countries discussed Washington's peace plan in South Africa on Saturday, while leaders continued negotiations in Geneva on Sunday.
