MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE — The Yunost concert hall in Mykolaiv hosted the premiere of the charity show-concert Let There Be Spring! on March 22, combining music, satire and humor while raising funds for Ukraine’s armed forces, according to Mykolaiv-based journalist Igor Yermolaev.

The event, organized by the local creative association Unusual People, aimed to provide a cultural outlet for residents while contributing to the national defense effort. All proceeds from ticket sales and audience donations will be directed toward the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), organizers said.

Return of a well-known creative duo

The production marked the return of creative duo Yulia Zakharova and Sergey Melnikov, whose performances have previously drawn significant attention from local audiences.

Their earlier productions include New Year's Emergency Hospital, Policewoman from UTZ, Hotel Sunrise, Welcome... Back, Cupid Won't Miss and Caution, People!, which have been staged in Mykolaiv in past years.

The new show, Let There Be Spring!, blends comedy, satire and musical performance, offering a contemporary and engaging theatrical experience.

Cast and guest performances

The production featured a cast including Yulia Zakharova, Elena and Yuri Lyubarov, Tamara Kuzmich, Sergey Melnikov and Evgeny Matveev, along with other regional performers.

The program also included performances by musical and dance groups from southern Ukraine. Parodist Valery Yurchenko appeared as a guest performer, contributing additional comedic elements to the event.

Cultural initiatives supporting the defense effort

The concert reflects ongoing efforts by local artists to support both community morale and national initiatives during wartime. Cultural events such as Let There Be Spring! continue to play a role in fundraising and public engagement in Mykolaiv.

According to journalist Igor Yermolaev, similar initiatives are expected to continue as part of broader support for Ukrainian defense efforts.
