UA Presa begins its journey for truth, peace and friendship

MYKOLAIV / KYIV, Ukraine — After nearly 30 years in journalism, dozens of newspapers founded and many years of editorial responsibility, we are launching UA Presa as a Ukrainian-language voice for truth, peace, humanity and friendship between Ukraine and Türkiye.

This is not merely another news website. For us, UA Presa is a moral responsibility, a journalistic mission and a human duty toward a country enduring the pain of war, occupation, loss and one of the greatest trials of its modern history.

Why we are beginning now

In my journalistic life, there have been many newspapers, many newsrooms, many difficult decisions and many moments of responsibility before readers. I have worked in different areas of media, built publications for different sectors, managed editorial teams and always believed in the power of an honest word.

When I came to Ukraine in 2013 and 2014, this country became much more than a point on the map for me. Ukraine became a place where I saw dignity, resilience, pain, hope and the great struggle of a people fighting for their freedom.

Today, as Ukraine lives under the pressure of Russian aggression, as war has touched millions of lives, as Ukrainian cities, families, children, soldiers and civilians carry the heavy burden of history, silence is not possible.

That is why we decided to prepare UA Presa in the Ukrainian language.

A Turkish journalist’s view of Ukraine

I am a Turkish journalist. But my family lives in Ukraine, my heart knows the pain of this land, and my conscience does not allow me to look at this war merely as a distant international event.

We want events in Ukraine to also be read through the eyes of a journalist from Türkiye, a country with deep historical ties to the Ukrainian people, Crimea, the Black Sea and regional security.

UA Presa is born from the belief that journalism must not be indifferent to suffering. It must search for truth, defend human dignity, support peace and preserve its conscience even in the most difficult times.

Our team is not perfect. We openly acknowledge that not every member of our editorial team speaks Ukrainian perfectly. But we have respect for this language, for the Ukrainian people and for the country about which we write. It is this respect that gave us the courage to take the first step.

Ukraine and Türkiye should walk together

The purpose of UA Presa is to contribute to better understanding between Ukraine and Türkiye. We want our site to help strengthen political, social, commercial, cultural and strategic ties between the two countries.

Türkiye and Ukraine have shared interests in the Black Sea region, in security, trade, humanitarian cooperation and international stability. But even more importantly, there is human closeness, mutual respect and sincere solidarity between our peoples.

The Turkish people have always tried, throughout their history, to stand beside the oppressed, the wronged, the displaced and those in need of support. This moral position is part of our national memory.

Today, Ukraine needs not only weapons, diplomacy or economic assistance. Ukraine also needs truthful words, human solidarity and honest international attention.

Türkiye’s position on Ukraine and Crimea

From the first days of the full-scale war, the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish state and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have repeatedly stated that Türkiye supports the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Türkiye’s position on Crimea is also clear. Crimea is Ukrainian land. Supporting the Crimean Tatars, their rights, historical memory, culture and security will always remain important for the Turkish people.

For us, this is not only a political issue. It is a matter of justice, history, conscience and brotherhood.

UA Presa will write about Ukraine, Türkiye, Crimea, the Black Sea region, world politics, war, peace, strategy, culture and human stories. But we want to do this not in the language of hatred, but in the language of truth, dignity and responsibility.

Our journalistic promise

As we begin this path, we ask Almighty God that our pen always write the truth.

We ask that our words never serve injustice, propaganda, lies or hatred. We ask that UA Presa always stand beside the oppressed, the wounded, the displaced, those who have lost their homes, families, land or peaceful lives.

Journalism is not only a profession. It is a responsibility before God, before people, before history and before future generations.

We know that every word has weight. In a time of war, a word can heal, but it can also wound. It can build bridges, but it can also destroy trust. That is why we want our words to be careful, honest and just.

In memory of Ukraine’s heroes

UA Presa begins its journey with respect for those who defended and continue to defend Ukraine.

We dedicate this first text to the memory of the heroes who died defending their land, their families, their freedom and the future of their country. Let this be a modest bouquet of red roses for their bright memory.

We pray that the Lord grants mercy to the fallen, strength to their families, patience to the wounded, hope to children and peace to all of Ukraine.

We also pray that wars across the world come to an end, that nations learn to speak instead of shoot, to build instead of destroy and to heal instead of inflict pain.

UA Presa takes its first step

Today, UA Presa begins publishing in Ukrainian.

This is the first article, the first column and the first address of our site to its readers. We do not claim perfection. But we have a sincere desire to serve truth, peace, Ukraine-Türkiye friendship and human dignity.

May UA Presa become a small but sincere contribution to the cause of peace. May it become a bridge between Ukraine and Türkiye. May it become a voice for those who need to be heard.

And may our pen never betray the truth.
