Bilal Erdoğan visits Aleppo during Syria trip

ALEPPO, Syria — Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation, visited Aleppo in Syria with a delegation of Turkish officials.

According to AA, Erdoğan was accompanied by AK Party Deputy Chair and Head of Foreign Affairs Zafer Sırakaya, AK Party Deputy Group Chair Abdulhamit Gül, Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yılmaz, AK Party Gaziantep Provincial Chair Fatih Muhaddis Fedaioğlu and other officials.

Delegation first visited Aleppo Governorate

Bilal Erdoğan and the accompanying delegation began their Syria program with a visit to Aleppo Governorate.

The delegation met Aleppo Governor Azzam Garib during the visit. The meeting included an exchange of views on the program and issues related to the region.

Historic Umayyad Mosque was visited

Following the governorate visit, the delegation visited the historic Umayyad Mosque in Aleppo.

Erdoğan and the accompanying officials received information from authorities about ongoing restoration work at the mosque. Details about the restoration process and the condition of the historic structure were shared with the delegation.

Aleppo Castle area and local shops were toured

As part of the program, the delegation also visited shopkeepers around Aleppo Castle.

The delegation met local tradespeople and held brief conversations in the historic area. The visit drew attention as part of the delegation’s local contacts in Aleppo.
