ISTANBUL, TURKEY — Desa, Turkey's pioneering leather goods manufacturer, has achieved the prestigious "Gold Rating" from the Leather Working Group (LWG) while accelerating its global expansion through a new R&D and production facility in Italy.
Established in 1972, the company has evolved into a vertically integrated powerhouse, serving as a solution provider for international luxury giants such as Prada, Chanel, and Armani. With the launch of its new factory in the Casentino Valley of Arezzo, Desa has become the only Turkish leather brand to operate its own manufacturing facility in Italy, reinforcing its status as a global prestigious brand.
Sustainable excellence and the LWG Gold Rating
Desa’s commitment to environmental protection, sustainability policies, and production quality was recently recognized by the Leather Working Group with its highest honor, the Gold Rating. This certification underscores the company's meticulous craftsmanship and high-standard material usage, which have been a hallmark of the brand for over 50 years.
Global investment and "Made in Italy" certification
Expanding its international footprint, Desa Internazionale in Poppi received customs clearance for the "Made in Italy" label in May 2024. The company aims to increase its Italian workforce from 72 to 100 by June 2025. This strategic move complements Desa's extensive retail network, which currently includes 108 stores across Turkey and strong e-export operations through platforms like Zalando, Amazon, and Bol.com across 18 countries.
Financial growth and market performance
Publicly traded on Borsa Istanbul since 2004, Desa reported a significant financial milestone with total assets reaching 5.28 billion TL as of September 30, 2025. The company’s total revenue for the first nine months of 2025 stood at 2.79 billion TL. Through continuous investment in design, R&D, and human resources, Desa continues to set trends in the leather fashion industry while strengthening its international profile.
