Akis Boya marks decades of expertise in industrial coatings

Akis Boya, a cornerstone of the Iyigullu Group, is solidifying its leadership in the industrial coatings sector by leveraging over 60 years of production experience and a strategic global partnership with Carboline.

The company, which operates more than 250 service points across the region, provides integrated industrial coloring solutions by manufacturing its own alkyd resins and colorants. Following a landmark licensing agreement with global giant Carboline in 2012, Akis Boya has established the widest product range in the Turkish market, specializing in anticorrosive coatings, tank linings, and fire retardant systems.

A legacy of industrial transformation

Originally founded in Istanbul in 1938, Akis Boya was acquired by the Bursa-based Iyigullu Group in 1980, marking a significant shift in its production trajectory. Since moving to the Demirtas Organized Industrial Zone in 1983, the firm has introduced several industry firsts, including the first automated paint coloring machine in Turkey in 1997. Today, the company manages a vast retail and dealership network, with recent expansions into strategic locations such as Balikesir, Bandirma, and Yenisehir.

Global expertise and the Carboline partnership

The partnership with Carboline, one of the world's largest industrial paint manufacturers, led to the establishment of the "Carboline Corrosion School" in 2012. This institution provides detailed technical training on everything from paint formulation to corrosion prevention, enhancing the technical capabilities of the Turkish workforce. Additionally, the development of the "New Colorland" system has turned industrial coloring into a dynamic, live ecosystem for the company’s extensive dealer network.

Technological innovation and sustainability

Akis Boya continues to invest in the future with the implementation of IOT-based quality systems and the launch of the Akis APP mobile application. In 2022, the company modernized its solvent and dust filtration systems to meet high environmental standards, aligning with its ISO 14001 certification. With the foundation of a new R&D center, the Iyigullu Group subsidiary aims to maintain its pioneering role by combining half a century of knowledge with sustainable, technology-driven production methods.
