Azerbaijan supports US-Iran ceasefire in call with Tehran
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed support for the US-Iran ceasefire during a phone call with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN — Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to welcome and express firm support for the newly announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Emphasizing the importance of restoring regional stability, the Azerbaijani side conveyed its readiness to provide all necessary diplomatic support to help transform this temporary truce into a permanent and comprehensive peace agreement.
Praising Pakistan's mediation role
According to a report by Karar, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the two top diplomats exchanged views on the current security situation in the region and the broader implications of the ceasefire. Bayramov highlighted that establishing this truce is crucial for reducing regional tensions, bringing ongoing negotiations to a successful conclusion, and effectively restoring stability.
During the conversation, both ministers highly appreciated the active involvement of mediating countries. In particular, they praised Pakistan’s critical diplomatic initiatives and its role in brokering the current agreement.
Diplomatic efforts for permanent peace
Bayramov pointed out the vital importance of strictly adhering to the established ceasefire regime by all parties, noting that the situation must be resolved exclusively through diplomatic channels.
Expressing his optimism regarding the upcoming diplomatic engagements, Bayramov stated his belief that the talks scheduled to be held in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, on Friday will be productive and results-oriented. He further reiterated his country's consistent foreign policy stance, noting that Azerbaijan is always prepared to support any initiatives aimed at strengthening lasting peace, security, and mutual cooperation in the region.
Diplomatic sources indicated that the conversation concluded with the ministers exchanging views on various other regional issues of mutual interest.
