Turkish Exports to Turkmenistan Surpass $1 Billion Mark
Turkey's exports to Turkmenistan exceeded $1 billion in 2025 as both nations eye a $5 billion trade volume target through strengthened economic ties.

ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN — Turkey's exports to Turkmenistan surpassed the $1 billion milestone in 2025, contributing to a total bilateral trade volume of $2.2 billion as both nations aim for a $5 billion target.
The surge in economic cooperation was highlighted during the 12th Turkmenistan Turkish Export Products Fair held in Ashgabat between 10-12 February 2026. 87 Turkish companies and organizations participated in the event, which was inaugurated by Turkish Trade Minister Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nökergulı Ataguliyev.
Strategic Trade Goals
Turkey currently ranks as Turkmenistan's second-largest import partner, accounting for a 19% share of the country's $5.7 billion annual imports. Yalçın Ertan, Vice President of the Ege Exporters' Association (EİB), emphasized the goal of becoming the top supplier by intensifying commercial contacts and leveraging existing cultural bonds. According to Ertan, exports rose by 19.3% in 2025, climbing from $885 million to $1.056 billion.
Sectoral Performance
The steel and non-ferrous metals sectors led the 2025 export charts with $252 million, followed by electrical electronics at $213 million and chemicals at $185 million. In the food sector, cereals and oilseeds reached $32 million, while the poultry and animal products industry contributed $20 million to the total export value. Fresh fruit and vegetable exports recorded $6 million during the same period.
Growing Agricultural Exports
Turkey has become the second-largest supplier of animal products to Turkmenistan, following the United States. Poultry meat exports alone rose to $16 million in 2025, up from $8 million the previous year. Additionally, the dried fruit sector, which recorded $1.6 million in exports last year, aims to quintuple its performance to reach a $5 million target in the near future through intensified promotional activities.
