KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched 1,920 attack drones, 1,790 guided aerial bombs and 17 missiles against Ukraine in just one week.
Zelenskyy said Russia continues to attack Ukrainian cities, communities and civilian infrastructure every day, adding that Kyiv must strengthen its defenses ahead of key talks with international partners.
Russia’s one-week attack figures
In a statement shared on social media, Zelenskyy said Russian forces had carried out hundreds of attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities, targeting civilian infrastructure on a daily basis.
According to the Ukrainian president, Russia used 1,920 attack drones, 1,790 guided aerial bombs and 17 missiles of various types against Ukraine in the past week alone.
The figures underline the scale of Russia’s ongoing air campaign and the pressure on Ukraine’s air defense network, especially as Moscow continues to combine drones, missiles and aerial bombs in repeated strikes.
Zelenskyy calls for stronger defenses
Zelenskyy said Ukraine must increase its countermeasures against what he described as Russian terror.
He emphasized that the country’s most urgent needs remain stronger air defense systems and long-range capabilities. Kyiv has repeatedly argued that better protection of Ukrainian cities depends not only on intercepting incoming drones and missiles, but also on increasing Ukraine’s ability to deter future attacks.
The Ukrainian leader said preparations are underway for talks with partners on strengthening Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s ongoing strikes.
G7, EU and NATO summits ahead
Zelenskyy pointed to upcoming G7, European Union and NATO summits as important opportunities for Ukraine to secure concrete decisions from its allies.
According to the Ukrainian president, the upcoming diplomatic meetings should not be limited to general expressions of support. He said it is essential that the talks lead to meaningful and practical outcomes.
Kyiv is expected to push for stronger air defense assistance, expanded long-range capabilities, deeper cooperation on drone production and use, and additional sanctions pressure on Russia.
Drone Deals format in focus
One of the key areas mentioned by Zelenskyy was the expansion of cooperation under the “Drone Deals” format.
Drones have become central to the war in Ukraine, both as weapons of attack and as tools of defense, reconnaissance and battlefield coordination. Russia has used large numbers of attack drones against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, while Ukraine has also developed drone capabilities as a major part of its defense strategy.
Zelenskyy said expanding drone cooperation with partners would help strengthen Ukraine’s ability to respond to Russian attacks and defend its territory.
Sanctions pressure on Russia
Zelenskyy also called for further strengthening sanctions against Russia.
Ukraine has consistently urged its partners to increase pressure on Moscow’s war economy, military supply chains and access to technologies that can be used in weapons production.
The Ukrainian president said a lasting end to the war can be achieved through strength, unity among partners and continued pressure on Russia.
Long-range capabilities remain a priority
In addition to air defense, Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine’s need for long-range capabilities.
For Kyiv, long-range systems are not only a military issue but also a strategic tool to reduce Russia’s ability to continue attacks from distance. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly argued that Russia must face stronger consequences for launching strikes against civilian infrastructure and residential areas.
Zelenskyy’s latest remarks suggest that long-range support will remain one of Ukraine’s central demands in upcoming talks with Western partners.
Kyiv expects concrete decisions
The Ukrainian president said the war must end with dignity and guaranteed security.
He argued that such an outcome can only be achieved through lasting strength, unity among partners and pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy thanked all countries and partners that continue to support Ukraine, while stressing that the next round of talks must produce meaningful results.
As Russia continues its large-scale attacks, Kyiv is seeking faster and stronger commitments from allies on air defense, drone cooperation, long-range capabilities and sanctions.
