Russian bombardment across Ukraine has killed at least four people and injured 19 others over the past 24 hours, as Moscow ramps up its aerial campaign against civilian and industrial infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a wave of 97 drones overnight. While 75 of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were successfully intercepted or shot down, 19 drones managed to bypass defenses, striking eight different locations across the country. The attacks have caused significant damage to residential areas and critical energy pipelines.
Heavy Casualties in Kharkiv and Donetsk
The northeastern town of Izium, located in the Kharkiv region, saw some of the most severe destruction. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that rescue teams recovered the bodies of two individuals from the rubble of a collapsed building on Saturday. In the eastern Donetsk region, officials confirmed another death and four injuries, noting that multiple homes and a residential complex were damaged in the strikes.
Intensified Aerial Campaign
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the scale of the ongoing offensive. Zelenskyy stated that within the last week alone, Russia has launched approximately 1,300 strike drones, 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and 9 missiles. In the Odesa region, local authorities reported that port facilities, transport hubs, and industrial sites were specifically targeted, threatening the region's logistical capabilities.
Moscow Claims Territorial Gains
While the air campaign continues, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that its ground forces have seized control of two more settlements. According to the ministry, Russian troops captured Vysoke in the Sumy region and Svitle in the Donetsk region within the last 24 hours. Moscow also claimed to have struck facilities used for transporting Western weaponry, as well as fuel depots and locations housing foreign fighters.
