ANKARA, TÜRKİYE —  Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has called for comprehensive legal reforms to strengthen the institutional structure of the Presidential Government System and align Turkey’s social order with the current governing model.

Speaking at the Alparslan Türkeş Politics Academy Foundation, Bahçeli emphasized that the democratic rule of law must be bolstered through regulations that bring the state and society into full harmony with the existing system. He further stressed that economic and social policies should be designed to protect low-income citizens, while maintaining a decisive stance against "crypto" FETÖ elements and similar structures within the state.

Strategic roadmap toward 2053

The MHP leader unveiled a three-stage "2053 Global Leadership Roadmap," a 27-year strategic plan intended to elevate Turkey to superpower status by the 600th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul. The plan is divided into three nine-year phases:

  • 2026–2035: A period focused on national unity, strategic transformation of state capacity, and a major development leap.

  • 2036–2044: The "Center Country Turkey" era, where the nation aims to become a central geopolitical and economic power.

  • 2045–2053: The "Global Leadership and Civilization Building" phase, intended to establish Turkey as a world leader.

Regional stability and a "Terror-Free Syria"

Bahçeli characterized recent developments in Syria as a critical threshold for Turkey's national security and its goal of a "terror-free Turkey." He claimed that despite ongoing fragilities, Syria has reached a stage of being completely cleared of terrorism, facilitating a new era toward a unitary and unified Syrian state.

"The winning party in this process is the Syrian people," Bahçeli stated, noting that a stable and terror-free region is a strategic necessity for Turkey's "terror-free" domestic goals.

Criticism of domestic and foreign adversaries

The MHP leader used sharp rhetoric against critics of the current "process," labeling those who attempt to hinder the nation's goals as "collaborators," "adversaries of the Turkish nation," and "wretches."

He argued that these individuals are tasked with discrediting beneficial works for the nation, eroding public trust, and weakening state capacity. Bahçeli insisted that despite any provocations, his party and the People's Alliance would remain focused on addressing public demands and solving social issues without deviation.

"A Turkey that has strengthened its national unity will undoubtedly achieve its economic and social development more easily," Bahçeli concluded.
