Best friend becomes surrogate, fulfilling a childhood promise
Georgia Barrington, born without a womb, realized her dream of motherhood thanks to her lifelong best friend Daisy Hope, who carried her baby.

Diagnosed at 15 with a condition that meant she could never carry a child, Georgia Barrington's dream of motherhood seemed lost until her childhood best friend, Daisy Hope, fulfilled a promise made years ago to be her surrogate.
Describing themselves as "soul sisters," Georgia and Daisy grew up inseparable. However, their bond was tested and strengthened when Georgia was diagnosed with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, a condition affecting one in 5,000 women where the womb is absent. "It was devastating, my whole world came crashing down," Georgia recalls.
A promise kept
Despite being young and admittedly "not very maternal" at the time, Daisy promised she would carry a baby for Georgia one day. "I don't think I fully understood what I was saying back then, but I always knew I would do it for her," Daisy told the Ready to Talk podcast.
Years later, after Daisy became a mother herself—with Georgia as her midwife—she felt ready to honor her pledge.
Triumph over heartbreak
The journey was fraught with challenges. An initial pregnancy ended in heartbreak with an empty sac at the seven-week scan. "All my hopes were gone in an instant," Georgia said. Daisy blamed herself, fearing she had let her best friend down.
However, they tried again. Despite a terrifying scare involving heavy bleeding six weeks in, the pregnancy continued. Daisy eventually gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Ottilie. "The moment I saw the baby's head, I lost it and we all started crying," Georgia shared, describing the experience as surreal and overwhelming.
Daisy says the experience has forged an unbreakable bond between them: "We have a connection that no one else will ever have because we went through something so personal."
