ISTANBUL, TURKEY — ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has officially announced a new integration with Lumu, a leader in continuous compromise assessment (CCA). This strategic partnership aims to enable organizations to measure and respond to confirmed security breaches in real-time, offering faster and much more precise threat detection capabilities.

In today's digital landscape, businesses face an increasingly complex threat environment and a growing attack surface. Managing cybersecurity has become incredibly challenging due to the sheer volume of individual solutions designed to narrow the attack surface piece by piece. Recognizing this growing complexity, ESET is actively simplifying workloads and operations through seamless product integrations that smoothly enhance business security.

Reducing complexity and automating response

Reducing operational complexity remains one of the fundamental pillars of ESET's prevention strategy. With the new Lumu integration, ESET significantly enhances web protection by automating the management of threat indicators and dynamically updating ESET security policies with real-time threat intelligence.

Furthermore, because Lumu is a cybersecurity solution focused heavily on continuous security breach assessment, it is designed to complement existing SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems rather than replace them, providing real-time visibility into confirmed breach indicators.

Lumu continuously detects communication patterns with malicious infrastructure across the entire organization, identifying both newly emerging and previously unknown threat campaigns. When fully integrated with ESET PROTECT, this gathered intelligence is automatically translated into blocking policies. This automated response effectively stops lateral movement within the network and prevents the further spread of malicious actors.

Key features of the integration

The collaboration brings several advanced technical capabilities designed to streamline cybersecurity operations:

  • Real-Time IOC Synchronization: Automatically synchronizes threat indicators from Lumu directly to ESET, ensuring up-to-date protection with minimal manual effort required from IT teams.

  • Web Access Protection Integration: Transfers identified malicious domains directly into ESET's web control policies, enabling the proactive blocking of threats at the critical network access layer.

  • Flexible Deployment Options: Enables flexible deployment using a custom script or Docker container on Linux or Windows operating systems, making it easily adaptable to a wide variety of customer environments and infrastructures.

  • Event Muting Functionality: Events that are actively muted in Lumu will automatically remove the associated IOCs from ESET. This crucial feature reduces false positives and significantly increases overall operational efficiency.

  • Multi-Source Metadata Collection: Aggregates network metadata from various agents, proxies, and cloud services to enrich threat detection and provide broader, more accurate protection.

Speeding up threat containment

When these advanced functions are combined, they vastly accelerate the containment of emerging threat campaigns. The integration significantly shortens the critical time elapsed from the initial detection phase to the active protection phase across all secured endpoints.

As a direct result, it becomes much more difficult for rapidly spreading ransomware and information theft attacks to make an impact, even in highly distributed remote or hybrid working environments.

Vice President of Global Partnerships and Alliances at ESET, Wolf Schumacher, commented on the strategic necessity of the partnership.

"At ESET, we see the chaotic nature of the threat landscape through our global sensor-driven telemetry; therefore, we know that the only way to stay safe is prevention. With our integrations, we want to help businesses on their resilience journeys without burdening them with continuous complexity. Lumu shares this perspective with us; therefore, it made perfect sense to integrate and help organizations achieve prevention effortlessly."
