Intelligence and information age: Turkey to rewrite rules of war

ANKARA, TURKEY — Integrating its historic domestic defense industry breakthroughs with intelligence, data superiority, and artificial intelligence, Turkey is preparing to rewrite the rules of global warfare doctrines.

Through the technological threshold reached under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's vision and the intelligence diplomacy of National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin, Turkey has gained a massive strategic advantage. According to a deep analysis by security expert and journalist Abdurrahman Simsek, the key to modern warfare is no longer just military production, but artificial intelligence and "strategic data superiority" capable of making split-second decisions.

Intelligence mind and targeting

Intelligence wars, which were once merely a race to gather field information, are undergoing a radical transformation today. Hypersonic missile technologies, air defense systems, satellite intelligence, and data espionage form the new fronts of modern conflicts.

Hypersonic missiles reaching speeds of Mach 15 and above challenge not only military systems but also intelligence decision-making processes. Experts note that behind this immense speed lies a deep espionage network with a multiplier effect on physics and mathematical engineering. Conventional systems that cannot make split-second decisions no longer have a chance on the battlefield.

Data power behind UAV and UCAV success

Turkey has risen to a playmaker position globally with its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) technologies developed under the leadership of Baykar. However, this breakthrough is evaluated not just as a commercial platform success, but as the architecture of the ultimate warfare model where data and striking power combine.

Sector analyses emphasize that this proving ground in unmanned aerial vehicles is not the end, but rather represents a "new intelligence-centric beginning." Autonomous systems supported by AI that can make decisions and take action on their own have become the most critical elements shaping the future of war.

Defense and intelligence as a single system

Building a strong defense industry infrastructure in modern warfare architecture, Turkey has created an integrated structure with ASELSAN seeing the field, Roketsan providing the striking power, Havelsan managing the systems, and TAI adding strategic depth.

Yet, this massive capacity depends entirely on the right intelligence mind pointing out the target. Emphasizing that intelligence and military power cannot be separated in modern warfare, the analysis states:

"First, as intelligence, you will fully support military capacity. Then, as a playmaker in the field, you will manage all the moves of that military power. The National Intelligence Organization must be a force that directs the field, not just gathers information in this new model."

Strategic data espionage and the Chinese example

In the new world order, wars are no longer won through hot conflicts on the field, but through strategic data obtained much earlier. Looking at global examples, China and Russia are among the countries that most effectively utilize data collection and espionage in technology and defense. Chinese intelligence, in particular, transforms globally gathered technological data directly into an element of state power.

Security experts state that Turkey must build its security architecture for the next 50 years on these realities. Consequently, MIT must move beyond classic intelligence-gathering methods to become a proactive structure that analyzes defense industry needs, identifies technological gaps, and directly supports capacity building through next-generation tech espionage.
