CHISINAU, MOLDOVA — Moldovan President Maia Sandu is conducting official visits to Finland and Latvia between March 31 and April 1 to strengthen bilateral relations and address pressing regional security concerns.
The diplomatic tour aims to deepen cooperation with key Nordic and Baltic partners. The central focus of these high-level meetings will be Moldova's ongoing accession process to the European Union and the broader security landscape in Eastern Europe, according to a statement from the Moldovan Presidency.
Strategic talks in Finland
The Moldovan head of state will begin her diplomatic tour on Tuesday in Helsinki. During this leg of the trip, she is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.
Following their discussions, the two leaders will hold a joint press conference to address the media. Sandu's agenda in Helsinki also includes meetings with other high-ranking Finnish officials and representatives of local civil society organizations.
Latvian agenda and parliamentary speech
On Wednesday, Sandu will travel to Riga for an official visit at the invitation of the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The itinerary in Latvia includes a bilateral meeting with her Latvian counterpart, which will also be followed by a joint press conference. Furthermore, the Moldovan leader is set to meet with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa and the leadership of the Latvian Parliament. Highlighting the importance of the diplomatic visit, Sandu will deliver a speech during a plenary session of the Latvian legislature in Riga.
