MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE — Mykolaiv Zoo, one of Ukraine’s oldest zoological institutions, continues to operate under wartime conditions while preserving a diverse animal collection and maintaining its role as a cultural and educational center.

Founded in 1901 by then-mayor Mykola Leontovych as a private aquarium, the zoo has grown into one of the country’s largest zoological parks, hosting hundreds of species and thousands of animals.
