ISTANBUL, TURKEY — Süleyman Orakçıoğlu, the Chairman of Orka Holding, and his wife, Ahu Orakçıoğlu, have officially ended their 15-year marriage in a quiet and uncontested court session.
The couple, who are prominent figures in Turkey’s business and media circles, married in February 2011 after a three-year courtship. According to reports, the divorce was finalized in November in a single hearing, with both parties agreeing to maintain a friendship moving forward.
An amicable conclusion
Local media outlets reported that the separation occurred without any arguments or conflict. The couple decided to part ways in a civilized manner, prioritizing their mutual respect.
The dissolution of the marriage marks a significant change in the personal life of Süleyman Orakçıoğlu, who helms one of Turkey's largest menswear conglomerates, owning brands such as Damat, Tween, and D'S Damat.
From Osmanbey to global markets
Orakçıoğlu’s business success story spans four decades. Orka Holding was established in 1986 by Süleyman Orakçıoğlu, his brother Halidun Orakçıoğlu, and their cousin Osman Arar in a small shop in Istanbul’s Osmanbey district under the "Damat" brand.
The company later expanded its portfolio with the "Tween" brand and opened its first international store in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the creation of the D'S Damat brand, the group achieved rapid growth, including a record-breaking expansion in the 2010s where they opened nine stores in Italy within nine days.
Strategic partnerships and sponsorships
Throughout its growth, Orka Holding has engaged in significant international partnerships. In 2012, the company signed a partnership agreement with the Bahrain-based Investcorp. The fund was managed by Nemir Kırdar, the nephew of former Turkish Health Minister Lütfi Kırdar, who had left Turkey for the U.S. following the 1960 coup. This partnership concluded after several years.
Today, Orka Holding operates more than 400 stores in 85 countries and is a major player in sports sponsorship. The company has served as the official clothing sponsor for the Turkish National Football Teams, Fenerbahçe, and Trabzonspor. On the global stage, their sponsorship portfolio includes La Liga’s Deportivo Alaves, Atletico Madrid, Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Bucharest, and the national teams of South Africa and Macedonia.
