KYIV, UKRAINE — The Russian military has failed to observe the declared "Easter ceasefire," continuing its relentless attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.
According to a statement released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday, April 11, hundreds of violations were recorded within hours of the truce's supposed commencement. Military data indicates that after the ceasefire was scheduled to take effect at 16:00, a staggering 469 ceasefire violations were documented.
Drones and artillery fire persist
The detailed report from the General Staff highlights the intensity of the continued aggression. The 469 recorded violations included 22 direct assault attempts, 153 artillery strikes, 19 suicide drone attacks, and 275 First-Person View (FPV) drone strikes.
Over the past 24 hours, a total of 101 combat engagements were reported along the frontline. The situation remained particularly tense in the Kostyantynivka sector, where Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 19 enemy attacks. In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian occupying forces launched 18 separate assault attempts.
Civilian areas targeted during holiday
Preliminary data suggests that during these fierce clashes, Ukrainian forces eliminated 67 Russian soldiers and wounded 24 others, while also destroying or damaging significant enemy equipment, including hundreds of drones. However, the Russian offensive was not limited to military targets. In a single day, Russian forces conducted 57 airstrikes, dropping 182 guided bombs that struck villages in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Tragically, the symbolic day of the ceasefire also saw civilian casualties. According to information shared on social media by local volunteer Andrey Valerievich, following the announcement of the Easter truce, a Russian strike hit a residential area in Kherson, injuring an elderly woman who was walking on the street.
The violence in Kherson continued throughout the day. Reports indicate that a passenger minibus and a trolleybus were also targeted. The drone attack on the trolleybus resulted in the death of the driver.
Fighting also persisted in other areas, including Lyman, Kupyansk, and the southern parts of the front. Notably, enemy attempts to attack near the Antonovsky Bridge were reported as unsuccessful. While the Armed Forces of Ukraine had previously stated they received the order to cease fire, the reality on the ground demonstrates an unabated continuation of hostilities.
