Divine Justice and Ukraine: Will Zelenskyy Pay for Poroshenko's Sins?

Divine Justice and Ukraine: Will Zelenskyy Pay for Poroshenko's Sins?

The Story of One Family and the Tragedy of a Nation

In the very heart of Mykolaiv, Ukraine, lived a Turkish family that became a symbol of humanitarian aid and mutual understanding. Through their charitable foundation, Fond İnan, they provided support to the most vulnerable segments of society: the poor, orphans, widows, and families of fallen soldiers.

The founder of this foundation was a Turkish journalist and entrepreneur who moved to Ukraine in 2013. He married a Ukrainian woman and raised two small daughters—Elif and Ayşe. To provide Ukrainians with high-quality meat, he engaged in livestock farming, and through an electronic platform, Ukrainians around the world could donate funds, which were converted into food for the needy.

This story should have been an example of humanity and compassion. But everything changed on July 12, 2018.

The Morning of Injustice

That morning, employees of the Ukrainian intelligence service burst into the home of the foundation’s founder. Without any warning or documentation, they attacked him while he was tending to the sheep.

His wife tried to defend her husband but was also arrested. They left their two small children—Elif, who was 1.5 years old, and Ayşe, who was only 9 months old—alone in the house. The flock of sheep scattered, and many animals were lost.

The accusation? "Terrorism."

In reality, it was because we refused to pay the demanded bribe. By order of then-President Petro Poroshenko, this humanitarian figure was declared an enemy of the state. The trial was merely a formality. The founder of the foundation was deported, stripped of his permanent residency, and the family was left in Ukraine without support. The daughters have grown up without seeing their father for almost seven years.

Once a Family's Tragedy, Now a Nation's Tragedy

Then came February 24, 2022. The Russian invasion brought chaos and destruction. Cities were turned into ruins, millions lost their homes, and families were separated.

What happened to the Turkish family in 2018 has now become the fate of all Ukraine. Is this parallel merely a coincidence? Or is it, perhaps, a manifestation of divine justice for the injustice perpetrated by the previous government?

Zelenskyy's Moral Leadership

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not responsible for the actions of his predecessor, but his silence on such cases undermines confidence in Ukraine as a state striving for justice.

The history of the İnan family is a reminder of the importance of accountability. Zelenskyy has a unique opportunity to amend the past: an apology to the family, recognition of their contribution, and a gesture of reconciliation could not only heal old wounds but also strengthen Ukraine's international image.

Why This Matters to the World

This story is a mirror to a broader problem: war, displacement, and human suffering. No country, regardless of its high ideals, can ignore justice without consequences.

The world, in supporting Ukraine's fight for freedom, must also call for internal accountability. Justice strengthens the moral foundation of a nation and its authority in the world.

A Message to Zelenskyy and World Leaders

To President Zelenskyy: A simple act of acknowledgement can be a powerful signal. It would show that Ukraine strives for justice even in the most difficult times.

To World Leaders: Stories like this need your attention. Ukraine's struggle is not only on the battlefield but also in its ability to uphold its values.

Divine Justice Awaits

History teaches that no leader will escape accountability. Although Poroshenko is no longer in power, his actions continue to affect Ukraine. The İnan family and the world await to see if justice will prevail.

Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko left two young girls, Elif and Ayşe, without a father for seven years—a prolonged tragedy for the İnan family.
