Hypnotherapy: Turning Inner Silence into a Source of Strength
Clinical Psychologist İhsan Öztekin explains how hypnotherapy can unlock suppressed inner strength, transforming the negative "inner silence" rooted in childhood trauma into resilience against modern burnout.

The exhausting tempo of daily life drags many individuals into physical and psychological burnout without them even realizing it. According to Clinical Psychologist İhsan Öztekin from Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Hospital, the key to survival is the ability to consciously withdraw and create space for oneself before hitting the breaking point.
Öztekin highlights that hypnotherapy is a powerful tool in this process, capable of transforming "inner silence" from a symptom of fragility into a reservoir of power.
The Two Faces of Inner Silence
Psychologist Öztekin explains that inner silence has two distinct meanings. On the positive side, it is a conscious choice of a self-confident personality.
"The valuable thing is to maintain this inner silence while living among people," says Öztekin. "This clears the mind, allowing the self—buried deep and hidden from the noise of society—to be revived. It allows for a healthier bond with society."
However, on the negative side, inner silence often stems from early childhood experiences. Constant exposure to humiliating or devaluing attitudes, combined with indifference or restrictive phrases like "you can't do it" or "shame," lays the foundation for a passive, withdrawn personality that cannot say "no."
Reversing the Cycle: From Inside Out
This is where hypnotherapy steps in. Öztekin notes that by entering the world of deep silence through therapy, the process can be reversed.
"A journey begins from the inside out," Öztekin explains. "The voices that once crushed, silenced, and devalued the individual are replaced by internal voices that enable the realization of true value and power. The individual is encouraged to step out of their internal cage and say, 'I exist too.'"
He emphasizes that therapy encourages individuals to stop looking at themselves through the eyes of others, to object to things they don't believe in, and to live the life they want rather than the one prescribed by others.
A Two-Way Transformation
Hypnotherapy provides a dual benefit. First, it brings out positive traits—such as self-confidence and the ability to express oneself—that exist within the individual but have been suppressed.
"A mental state free from thoughts and fears like 'will they get angry, will they misunderstand me, will they leave me?' is reached," Öztekin states.
Second, it targets the removal of negative traits caused by external factors. "Excessive and uncontrolled anger, fears, anxieties, doubts, and obsessions are addressed in this process," he adds. Through systematic and personalized suggestions, the individual can continue their life as a stronger, more successful, and happier person in all areas, from family to career.
