Martyr's Mother Fights Process Commission : 'This Homeland is Not Ownerless'

WISE NEWS PRESS / ANKARA, TURKEY — Nov. 11, 2025

Pakize Alp Akbaba, a martyr's mother and President of the Martyrs' Mothers Association, announced she will establish a "Justice Table" in front of the First Parliament in Ankara on November 12–13 to protest the ongoing political "process commission" regarding the conflict.

Akbaba stated that she will distribute a declaration and give a speech at the site. "The 'Terror-Free Turkey' process hurt us deeply. It felt as if we had just received the news of our children's deaths," Akbaba said, explaining her motivation. "Because here they were inviting the baby killer, the murderer of 55,000 people [Abdullah Öcalan], to the Parliament and talking about 'right to hope'."

The 'Table of Treason'

Akbaba described the process as the "Table of Treason," criticizing the participants. "They are wagging their fingers at the nation in the sacred Parliament, established by Atatürk and founded on the blood of martyrs. They say, 'We are thinking about Turkey's future.' But I don't believe it. They are not honoring the seat they hold in Parliament."

She added: "Their goal is to grant amnesty to the PKK terrorist organization and change the Constitution. Erdoğan is doing these things for his seat. He is not thinking about Turkey. He called the martyrs 'corpses' once. I sued him then and won a petty lawsuit."

'I Took an Oath at My Son's Grave'

Pledging her commitment, Akbaba said, "We will set up a Justice Table against the Table of Treason." She elaborated: "We will set it up in front of the parliament where Atatürk declared the republic. I will put a table and a chair there. We will distribute a declaration. We will explain that Öcalan [PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan] shot not only soldiers and teachers but also civilians. I will spend my days and nights there if necessary."

Akbaba concluded with a powerful declaration of her resolve: "They shouldn't be offended; this homeland is not ownerless. I am the granddaughter of the heroic mothers from the War of Independence. I took an oath at my son's grave. I will continue my struggle to be worthy of the authority Atatürk gave me. I will use it until my last breath."
