ADANA, TURKEY — During the 181st anniversary commemorations of the Turkish Police Force in Adana, a touching plaque left by a young boy on his martyred father's grave evoked profound emotion among attendees.

The poignant tribute, reading "The best dad in the world is my dad," was placed by Yusuf Nihat Kale, who was just 10 days old when his father, police officer Murat Savaş Kale, was killed in a 2015 terror attack.

Memorial ceremony at Buruk Cemetery

The heartfelt moment occurred during the April 10 Police Week events at the Buruk Cemetery martyrs' memorial, where grieving families gathered to pray and pay their respects. Adana Police Chief Ahmet Hakan Arıkan, accompanied by branch directors, laid carnations on the graves of the fallen officers.

During the Police Week commemorations, Chief Arıkan engaged closely with the families of the martyrs, paying special attention to the children of the deceased officers. Following the visits to individual graves, attendees recited the Quran to honor the memories of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

A son's eternal longing

The grave of police officer Murat Savaş Kale drew particular attention due to the deeply personal tokens left behind. Kale was martyred on September 4, 2015, during a PKK terror attack on the Şehit Nahit Bulut Police Station in the eastern province of Tunceli.

At the time of his father's tragic death, Yusuf Nihat Kale was only 10 days old. Now, years later, the young boy's plaque honoring his father moved visitors to tears. According to local media reports, the memorial also featured a customized t-shirt hung on the gravestone, bearing photographs of the martyred officer, his wife Belgin Ünal Kale, and their son, symbolizing an unbreakable family bond despite the tragic loss.
