Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he will hold a series of meetings in Turkey tomorrow, stating that the visit will focus on preparations to revive peace negotiations to end the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy stressed that ending the war remains Ukraine's top priority. The talks are expected to center on developing new diplomatic solutions to present to international partners, alongside efforts to restart the stalled exchange of prisoners of war (POWs).
Preparing Solutions for Partners
Announcing the upcoming visit, the Ukrainian leader stated that his team is actively working on new steps toward a diplomatic solution.
Zelenskyy emphasized the urgency:
"I will have meetings in Turkey tomorrow. We are preparing to revive the negotiations and have developed solutions to present to our partners."
He also provided an update on the humanitarian efforts, adding, "We are working to restart the exchange of prisoners of war and to bring our prisoners home." Zelenskyy noted that his discussions in Turkey will focus heavily on these diplomatic and humanitarian issues.
Turkey's Continuing Role
Turkey has maintained a key mediating role since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, having hosted initial peace negotiations in Istanbul and playing a crucial role in establishing the Black Sea Grain Corridor deal.
Zelenskyy’s visit is seen as a renewed effort to establish a roadmap for peace talks, leveraging Turkey’s unique position as an intermediary between Kyiv and Moscow.
