Actress Ruby Rose, who originally was set to star in the film Christy, fiercely criticized Sydney Sweeney after the movie’s disastrous box office performance, openly calling her "stupid."
Christy only managed to gross $1.3 million worldwide against a $15 million budget, establishing it as one of the biggest flops of recent years and igniting a public feud between the actors involved.
Rose, known for her roles in Batgirl and Orange Is the New Black, took to her personal social media account to voice her frustration, specifically targeting Sweeney, who ended up taking the lead role.
Rose claimed that the original concept for the film was radically different from the final product, citing issues with casting and the film's core themes. "The original Christy Martin script was brilliant. Life changes," Rose wrote. "I was going to play Cherry and everyone on the team had a foundation. Most of the team members were actually gay. Losing roles is something that happens all the time."
Direct Criticism and Insults
Rose was particularly angered by Sweeney's reported comments in which she allegedly blamed others for the film's failure and claimed she made the movie "for the people."
In a strongly worded statement, Rose dismissed Sweeney’s justification, suggesting the film alienated its intended audience and directly insulting the Euphoria actress. "Saying the movie failed or Sweeney claiming she did it for the people is wrong," Rose continued. "None of those people want to see someone who hates themselves and acts like us. You are stupid and you ruined the film. That’s it. Christy deserved better," she concluded.
Rose’s public attack marks a significant escalation in the tensions surrounding the box office bomb, drawing a sharp distinction between the original project's intentions and the final result.
