Azerbaijan and Armenia Negotiators in Historic First:  The Chapter of War is Closed

WISE NEWS PRESS / DOHA, QATAR — DEC. 10, 2025

In a historic first, high-level peace negotiators from Azerbaijan and Armenia appeared together in a joint interview in Doha, declaring that the era of conflict has officially ended and the two nations are now focused on a shared future of economic integration.

Following decades of hostility in the South Caucasus, the two neighbors reaffirmed their commitment to transforming the region. Initiated with European Union support in 2020 and culminating in a peace agreement between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the process is now shifting toward solidifying "irreversible" peace through economic cooperation.

Rebuilding the 'Wall of Trust'

Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Hikmet Hajiyev and Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan emphasized that their respective leaderships have decided to put aside existing disputes. Hajiyev described the joint peace process as a "success story in the context of global conflicts," stating, "This chapter of conflict is closed, and there is real peace on the ground."

Armenian representative Grigoryan described peace as a "strategic commodity" and used a metaphor to describe the fragile but growing confidence between the two sides:

"In all conflicts, parties do not trust each other. But we are working on this. As the famous song goes, this is 'another brick in the wall' of trust—in the positive sense of the quote. We are moving in this direction. Our success is huge, and we are celebrating it."

The 'TRIPP' Project: A New Eurasian Route

The negotiators revealed details about a major logistical undertaking dubbed the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), which aims to reshape the transportation map of Eurasia.

Hajiyev noted that this new transport line would fundamentally change the continent's connectivity. Grigoryan added that talks regarding the project's implementation are ongoing with the United States, describing it as the "big and beautiful deal reached in Washington."

"I hope it happens very soon. Then the whole technical process will start, and we will work to open the region. This is a huge and historic project for our region," Grigoryan said.

A Shared Future

Both officials stressed that the current peace efforts are for "future generations" and that they are working on confidence-building measures between their societies. While acknowledging that this requires immense effort after decades of war, they concluded the interview by emphasizing that the two countries must now look forward to a common, peaceful future.
