Aydın police surprise fallen hero's daughter on 8th birthday

Special Operations police units in Aydın surprised the 8-year-old daughter of their fallen colleague, Necati Aygün, with a heartwarming birthday celebration at her elementary school in the Efeler district on Wednesday.

The unit visited Güzelhisar Elementary School to honor the memory of Officer Aygün, who lost his life during an ammunition transfer mission in 2022. By celebrating his daughter Aysel Naz’s birthday, the police force aimed to demonstrate their lifelong commitment to the families of fallen heroes, often referred to as "sacred trusts" in Turkish culture.

A heartfelt classroom celebration

The officers entered the second-grade classroom of Aysel Naz Aygün during her lessons, carrying a birthday cake and various gifts. The young girl, visibly moved and happy to see her father’s former colleagues in their official uniforms, was joined by her mother, Gülçimen Aygün, for the celebration. The officers spent time with the students, cutting the cake and sharing a message of solidarity and care.

Honoring the legacy of Necati Aygün

Special Operations Officer Necati Aygün was martyred in 2022 following an explosion that occurred during a mission in Bingöl. Since then, the Aydın Police Department has maintained close contact with his family. Officers at the event emphasized that the children of their fallen brothers-in-arms are considered part of the larger police family.

Emotional gratitude from the family

The fallen officer’s widow, Gülçimen Aygün, expressed her deep gratitude to the Aydın Special Operations Branch. She noted that such gestures provide immense emotional support for her daughter, helping her feel the presence and pride of her father's service. Minik Aysel Naz thanked the "police uncles" for the surprise, as the event concluded with a commemorative group photo in the classroom.
